A: One of the wonderful things about living in this country is the importance
that we attach to a choice. Millions of people choose chiropractic because it is

Q: Once I start going to a chiropractor, will I have to go for the rest of my life?
A: No. Remember the length of time that you choose to benefit from chiropractic
is always up to you. After discovering the benefits of chiropractic many

“package” which also includes exercise, plenty of sleep and eating a good diet.

Q: How many adjustments will I need?
A: Excellent question. Every situation is different, however a “trial period” of
adjustments usually consists of two spinal adjustments per week for four weeks.
A reevaluation at this point generally shows good improvement. There are several
factors that influence how quickly you get better. Some of these variables are
age, physical condition, and length of your problem.
Q: Are chiropractic adjustments safe?
A: Absolutely. The literature suggests that chiropractic is safer than taking an
aspirin. Millions of people are adjusted every year in a safe and responsible
way by trained professionals who administer chiropractic adjustments every day.
Most of the injuries reported are from untrained medical professionals and
non-professional manipulation by “barbers” in foreign countries.
Q: What exactly is the noise that I hear when I get adjusted?
A: The noise that you hear when you get adjusted is similar to a champagne
bottle being opened. Joints in the human body contain nitrogen gas under
pressure. When the bones of the spine are moved this nitrogen gas is released
and a popping sound is heard.
Q: How long does a chiropractor have to go to school?
A: At least six years, however most chiropractic colleges in the future will
require a bachelors degree prior to admittance into the four year chiropractic
program. This will increase the period of study to eight years minimum.

Q: Do I have to have a symptom to go to a Doctor of Chiropractic?
A: No. According to a journal of the American Medical Association 58% of
respondents to an alternative health care survey use chiropractic at least in
part to “prevent future illnesses from occurring or to maintain health and
vitality.”
Q: Is chiropractic alternative health care?
A: No. The word alternative suggests a choice between two similar treatments for
a particular disease. Chiropractors do not treat disease. Our health care field
is based on the subluxation or nerve system interference model. Chiropractic is
separate and distinct from medicine. Although it is often times mistakenly
referred to as an alternative to medicine.

A: To locate, analyze and correct the vertebral subluxation.
Q: Does everyone have a subluxation?
A: Subluxations are common in the general population, because we have
twenty-four moveable bones in our spines. The causes of subluxation are 1)
physical stresses, 2) chemical stresses, and 3) emotional stresses. Because we
have all three of these stresses on an ongoing basis, everyone’s spine
subluxates on a periodic basis, particularly when stresses are high.

A: No. Doctors of Chiropractic are portal of entry health care providers who
offer a separate and distinct service to the public. Although insurance
companies have internal rules to keep costs and services down, Anyone may visit
a Doctor of Chiropractic at anytime for evaluation of spinal subluxations.
Q: How long have chiropractors been around?
A: Chiropractic was born in America in 1895. Chiropractors have been correcting
subluxation for over 100 years.
